A man has been charged with taking two people hostage and then shooting at responding police officers in the West Pullman neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
Steven Wade, 43, is accused of breaking into a home in the 12900 block of South Peoria Street and restraining a 44-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man at gunpoint, resulting in a SWAT response.
According to police, Wade allegedly began shooting at responding officers, despite the fact that no one was injured.
Wade was eventually apprehended and charged with nine counts of felony attempted murder. He was also charged with two counts of felony kidnapping and two counts of felony unlawful restraint.
Wade, from Joliet, is due in bond court on Thursday.
