Rapper Coolio passes away at age 59

My Life In The Chi has learned that Coolio, a rapper, passed away on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
When he passed away late Wednesday afternoon, the influential rapper from the 1990s was spending the afternoon with a friend.
Jarez, Coolio’s long-term manager, says that Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend’s house. When he didn’t come back for a while, the friend kept calling for him and eventually went in and found Coolio lying on the floor.
Jarez tells us that the paramedics believe Coolio died of cardiac arrest after the friend called emergency medical technicians, who arrived on the scene and declared him dead.The official cause of death is still unknown.
Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., started out in the L.A. rap scene in the late 1980s. In 1995, he released “Gangsta’s Paradise” for the soundtrack of Michelle Pfeiffer’s “Dangerous Minds.” This song caused him to become hugely popular all over the country.
The song reached the top spot for three weeks.
While “Paradise” became Coolio’s signature song, he also had other hits like “Fantastic Voyage,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994, “1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New),” and “It’s All the Way Live (Now).”
