Wheeling’s Holmes Middle School is under lockdown following a weapon report

As a result of a weapon that was discovered in the school, a middle school in Wheeling’s northwest suburban area is on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.

According to school officials, they called the police around 12 p.m. after receiving a report of a weapon in the school. In accordance with district policy, the school was put on lockdown while police investigated “whether the weapon is an airsoft gun.”

During the police investigation, no students are in danger.According to the district, ParentSquare will continue to provide parents with updates.
