CHICAGO: Although Chicago is the third-largest city in the United States, tourists still prefer it.
Today, Chicago was named “The Best Big City in the United States” in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards for 2022.
In the Awards’ 35-year history, no other city has won the title more than three times. This is the city’s sixth consecutive win.
The Readers’ Choice Awards are not only the travel industry’s longest-running and most prestigious awards for excellence.
According to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, “There are so many reasons why Chicago is the Best Big City in the United States.” We have top-notch hotels and meeting facilities, world-class restaurants, cultural institutions and entertainment venues that can compete with the best in the world, and vibrant, diverse neighborhoods that ensure there is something for everyone.
Choose Chicago says that the summer of 2022 was especially good because a new travel campaign called “When You Go You Know” came out in June.
According to Choose Chicago data, hotel room demand totaled more than 3 million rooms in June, July, and August. Additionally, hotel revenue totaled more than $150 million between April and September.
According to Choose Chicago, events such as the inaugural Sueos festival in May, the inaugural US Sail Grand Prix Chicago race at Navy Pier in June, Lollapalooza, and the James Beard Awards also contributed to promoting the city as a dynamic destination.
