More than one hundred veterans landed at Midway Airport on Wednesday evening after participating in the final Honor Flight of the season.
After spending a day in Washington, D.C., the 113 veterans, comprised of 104 Vietnam War veterans, eight Korean War veterans, and one World War II veteran, returned to Chicago.
The 16-hour trip to Washington D.C.’s war memorials was provided at no cost to the veterans, who were treated as heroes throughout.
Respect Flight Chicago’s objective is to honor the valor and patriotism of our senior war veterans with a unique experience. Wednesday’s departure from Chicago marked the 106th Honor Flight. Over the years, the organization has transported over 9,000 veterans from the Chicago area to Washington, D.C.
