Clorox is recalling three Pine-Sol products due to the possibility of bacteria causing serious infection in humans.
According to a recall website, Pine-Sol is recalling the following cleaners after learning that “some products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.”
Individuals with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to pseudomonas aeruginosa may develop a serious infection that necessitates medical treatment, according to a Consumer Product Safety Commission notice. The bacteria usually have no effect on healthy people.
Bacteria can enter a person’s body through inhalation, the eyes, or a skin opening.
According to the CPSC, the bacteria was discovered in certain recalled products manufactured between January 2021 and September 2022.
Approximately 37 million products manufactured at the company’s Forest Park, Georgia, facility are affected. Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, Lemon Fresh, and Orange Energy scents; Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, Lemon Fresh, and Orange Energy scents; and Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaners are the specific products.
These items were available in a variety of sizes ranging from 28 to 175 ounces. A complete list of impacted UPC Pine-Sol cleaners can be found here.
