Clorox is recalling certain Pine-Sol cleaners due to the risk of bacteria exposure.

Clorox is recalling three Pine-Sol products due to the possibility of bacteria causing serious infection in humans.

According to a recall website, Pine-Sol is recalling the following cleaners after learning that “some products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.”

Individuals with weakened immune systems or external medical devices who are exposed to pseudomonas aeruginosa may develop a serious infection that necessitates medical treatment, according to a Consumer Product Safety Commission notice. The bacteria usually have no effect on healthy people.

Bacteria can enter a person’s body through inhalation, the eyes, or a skin opening.

According to the CPSC, the bacteria was discovered in certain recalled products manufactured between January 2021 and September 2022.

Approximately 37 million products manufactured at the company’s Forest Park, Georgia, facility are affected. Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, Lemon Fresh, and Orange Energy scents; Pine-Sol All Purpose Cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, Lemon Fresh, and Orange Energy scents; and Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaners are the specific products.

These items were available in a variety of sizes ranging from 28 to 175 ounces. A complete list of impacted UPC Pine-Sol cleaners can be found here.

The original Pine-Sol pine scent is unaffected.

To see if your Pine-Sol is affected, look at the date code on the top of the bottle. Recalled products have a date code that starts with “A4” and ends with a five-digit number less than “22249.”

If you have any recalled Pine-Sol, the company requests that you stop using it immediately. You can request a full refund online by clicking here. You will be required to upload a photo of the UPC on the bottle as well as the date code.

According to Pine-Sol, refunds will be issued in the form of a check, which you can expect to receive four to six weeks after submitting your request.
