Twenty people were arrested following a child sex sting operation in Indiana.

After a days-long child sex sting operation in Indiana, police arrested 20 people.

According to a police department Facebook post, the sting operation was carried out by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the City of Franklin Police Department between November 1 and November 3.

Officers posed as underage children online during the operation and agreed to meet with the potential offenders at a specific location. According to investigators, the individuals expected to have a sexual encounter with a minor.

Some people traveled from other states to meet with the alleged minors, and some even brought items ranging from alcoholic beverages to drugs to firearms, according to police.

“We will never know the true scope or impact of these investigations on our children’s safety. Knowingly meeting a minor and wanting to take that minor away from their home and travel thousands of miles away frightens all of us. Will we ever know for certain what the suspect’s true intentions were?” According to the Facebook post,

According to police, more than half of the 20 people arrested as a result of this operation have bonded out. The rest are still imprisoned.

Between December 2020 and November 2022, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department successfully conducted four sex sting operations, resulting in 49 arrests.

“We want parents to be extremely vigilant about what their children are doing and who they are communicating with on the internet. The number of online apps and topics that can be discussed is frightening. Almost everyone owns a smartphone, making it so simple to access these sites “the post stated.
