According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, three people were rushed to the hospital Thursday after a domestic altercation in the county.
Deputies were summoned to the home in the 2600 block of Shady Grove Court around 6:40 p.m. on a report of a shooting.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, when they arrived, they discovered a 66-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man from Crete with multiple injuries. A 36-year-old Wisconsin man was also inside the house.
According to the sheriff’s office, a handgun was fired inside and outside the home, but no one was shot. They were all rushed to a hospital in the Chicago area in critical condition after being “cut and stabbed with a knife and possibly shot.”
According to the sheriff’s office, the couple from Crete will “survive their injuries.
According to early evidence, the man from Wisconsin attacked the couple and is connected to them via marriage, according to the sheriff’s office. The situation looks to be domestic in nature, and nobody else appears to be at risk.
According to the release, the sheriff’s office is collaborating with local and state police agencies to check on the welfare of other family members.
Neighbors in Crete’s Plum Valley subdivision told reporters they didn’t hear anything, but they observed police lights and became anxious.
There has been no information about any potential charges in this matter.
