In Milwaukee, a 10-year-old boy is accused of shooting and killing his mother because she refused to buy him a virtual reality headset.
The fatal shooting occurred at the boy’s home on Monday.
For more than two decades, Steve Frisch has lived in the 8700 block of Hemlock.
He described his family as typical.
Frisch recalled, “They just asked me how I’m doing and stuff like that,”
According to the criminal complaint, the boy initially told police that he shot his mother by accident while twirling the gun.
However, the family called police the next day, expressing grave concerns.
According to them, the boy told his aunt that he was “actually aiming the gun at his mother.”
According to detectives, the boy said he got the gun because he was angry at his mother for waking him up at 6 a.m. and refusing to let him order a virtual reality headset from Amazon.

According to police, the boy told them he got the gun by taking his mother’s keys to the gun safe, and that he took a shooting stance and wanted to shoot the wall to scare her, but she walked in front of him.
According to his family, the boy had “rage issues” his entire life, and at the age of four, he picked up a puppy by the tail and swung it around until it whined in pain.

According to the criminal complaint, the 10-year-old filled a balloon with a flammable liquid and set it on fire six months ago, causing a sectional and carpet in their home to catch fire.
A sibling also told police that the 10-year-old was seeing a therapist, who gave him a concerning diagnosis, prompting his mother to install cameras in their home.
The cameras were turned off two weeks ago.
A family member told police that they “felt bad for not stepping in earlier … Because they knew that eventually something bad was going to happen.”
According to police, the boy purchased the headset from his mother’s Amazon account one day after shooting her.
According to the criminal complaint, the boy told his grandmother, “I’m sorry for killing my mom,” before asking if his Amazon package had arrived.

“Anytime there is violence that happens in Milwaukee, whether it’s by somebody that’s 10-year-old or much older than that, that gives me pause,” Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson told WTMJ. “I don’t want anyone to be injured or killed in the city. I don’t have all of the details in this case yet. This is something that has only recently come to my attention.”
The adolescent has been charged with first-degree murder. Because the boy was charged as an adult, he faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
His bail has been set at $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 7.
