A 21-year-old man’s body was recovered from Lake Michigan at Oak Street Beach early Wednesday morning, while a young man from Poland remains unaccounted for after attending a Christmas party in River North over the weekend.
The victim was pulled from the water around 1:55 a.m., found unresponsive, and pronounced dead a short time later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to CPD.
Area three detectives are looking into it.
While authorities have yet to identify the body, Krzysztof Szubert’s family and friends are waiting for answers.
He went missing over the weekend while working in the Chicago area.
Szubert was last seen Saturday night at Howl at the Moon, a River North bar at 26 W. Hubbard St.
Some of his coworkers distributed flyers near the bar on Tuesday.
Szubert works in information technology for Knapp Incorporated, a global technology company.
He’s been in the United States since November to work on a project in Joliet.
He was staying in a hotel there.
He and a few dozen coworkers took a party bus downtown Chicago for their company Christmas party on Saturday.
They arrived at Howl at the Moon. A coworker said he left the bar around 9:30 p.m. and hasn’t been seen since.
Szubert was last seen leaving the party wearing a dark jacket and a blue collared shirt, according to Chicago police.
