Over the course of four days, 50 armed robberies were reported on Chicago’s North and West sides.

According to Chicago police, two to four people are responsible for 50 armed robberies committed on the North and West sides over four days last week.

According to police, the suspects in each case wore dark clothing with hoods and ski masks, pulled up in a car, got out, and approached people on streets and sidewalks, robbing them at gunpoint.

According to police, some of the robberies occurred just minutes apart. Nobody is being held.

According to police data, robberies in the city have increased by 15% since last year. Theft is up 59%.

The 25th Police District on Chicago’s Northwest Side has seen the largest increase, 34%, from 271 robberies this year to 362 this time last year.

  • Between midnight and 4 a.m. on Saturday, 18 robberies were reported, mostly in Humboldt Park, Ukrainian Village, and West Town. Others occurred from the Near North Side to Lakeview, Edgewater, and West Ridge on Saturday morning.
  • According to police, there was only one reported robbery on Friday around 11:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Sandburg Terrace on the Near North Side.
  • On December 8, a group of gunmen committed 16 robberies on the West Side, the majority of which occurred in Humboldt Park, between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. According to police, six of the attacks occurred between 5:15 a.m. and 5:38 a.m.
  • On December 7, another 15 robberies were reported, mostly on the West Side. According to police, twelve of them occurred between 4:15 a.m. and 6:40 a.m.
