On Wednesday, a Gurnee man was charged after traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity.
After months of investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43-year-old Eddie Murillo for indecent solicitation of a child.
Murillo was communicating with undercover detectives online while posing as a young girl. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Murillo expressed his desire to engage in a sexual relationship with ‘the child’ during their conversations.
According to investigators, Murillo drove to meet a woman he believed to be the victim for sexual acts on December 14. Sheriff’s detectives arrested him when he arrived.
He was charged with one count of traveling to meet a minor and one count of grooming.
“Our investigators will continue to prioritize proactive investigations of those who prey on our children. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of parents and guardians knowing what apps their children are using and who they are communicating with on their mobile devices “Sheriff John D. Idleburg said.
Murillo is being held in the Lake County Jail pending a Thursday morning court appearance.
