Two teenagers were among the nine people killed in weekend gun violence in Chicago.

At least nine people were injured in weekend shootings across Chicago, including two teenagers.

  • A 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were inside a home in the 100 block of North Oakley Boulevard on the Near West Side shortly before 6 p.m. when someone outside shot at them, according to Chicago police. The girl was airlifted to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where she died from a gunshot wound to the head. The boy was taken to the same hospital with a graze wound and was listed in good condition.
  • According to officials, a man was shot while driving on Interstate 57 on the Far South Side on Saturday afternoon. The man was driving on the interstate in a black Dodge van when he was hit in the back by gunfire near Halsted Street around 3:55 p.m., according to Illinois State Police. According to the Chicago Fire Department, he was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was listed in serious-to-critical condition. Traffic was diverted from the outbound lanes of I-57 at Halsted while state troopers searched for evidence, according to state police.

Since 5 p.m. Friday, at least six more people have been injured by gunfire in Chicago.
