Walgreens is closing one of its most prominent locations in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
On January 31, the store in the former Noel State Bank building on Milwaukee Avenue near Damen Avenue will close.
In a statement, Walgreens officials said, “We are focused on creating the right network of stores in the right locations to best meet the needs of the communities we serve as we move forward with our strategy to expand Walgreens role as a leader in the delivery of local healthcare. We had to make the difficult decision to close this store. We consider a variety of factors, including the dynamics of the local market and our customers’ changing purchasing habits.”
Prescription files will be automatically transferred to another Walgreens on Milwaukee Avenue about a half-mile south.
