Over the weekend, five people were killed and 19 others were injured in shootings across Chicago.

A man was killed after being shot Saturday in Austin. According to Chicago police, the 29-year-old was outside in the 5600 block of West Lake Street around noon when three people approached him and at least one person fired shots, striking the man in the back and neck. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead there.

A man was killed in a shooting in Chatham on the South Side early Sunday morning. Officers discovered the man unresponsive in the 400 block of East 82nd Street around 11:40 a.m., according to police. He was shot multiple times in the body and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. His identity has not been revealed.

A woman was fatally shot in Washington Park on Chicago’s South Side on Sunday night. The woman, 41, was shot in the neck and chest in the 6200 block of South Michigan Avenue around 5:30 p.m., according to police. She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Late Sunday night in West Rogers Park on the North Side, a man was shot to death while sitting in a car. Benjamin Lopez, 18, was a passenger in a vehicle in the 2600 block of West Fitch Avenue around 11:50 p.m. when someone in another car fired shots, according to police. Lopez was shot in the leg and hip and taken to Evanston’s Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A man was fatally shot early Monday in Chatham on Chicago’s South Side. The 20-year-old was standing near a bus stop in the first block of West 87th Street around 12:30 a.m. when a male suspect got out of a gray Dodge Durango and opened fire, according to police. The man was hit in the abdomen and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

A 17-year-old boy was critically injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Riverdale on Chicago’s Far South Side. He was on the sidewalk in the 100 block of East 132nd Street around 3:54 p.m. when a vehicle drove up and someone inside fired shots, according to police. The boy was struck in the neck and was airlifted to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

Between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, at least 18 other people were injured in citywide gun violence.
