Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti was arrested in Georgia on suspicion of choking his pregnant girlfriend during an argument over a paternity test.

According to TMZ, the victim told Fulton County police that Carti, whose real name is Jordan Carter, grabbed her throat and held her until she could barely breathe on December 20.

According to police, the woman was 14 weeks pregnant at the time and thought she was going to die.

According to TMZ, the woman claimed the incident started when she tried to talk to Carter about the baby, which led to an argument about a paternity test, which escalated into the alleged physical assault.

The woman claims she was able to flee thanks to a witness, but she claims he tried to drag her out of a car and prevent her from using the vehicle’s SOS feature to report the attack to police.

According to TMZ, police noted visible injuries to the woman’s neck, chest, and back in the incident report.

Carter faces felony aggravated assault charges.

Carter’s attorney, Brian Steel, told TMZ that the rapper was “falsely accused.”
