A teen has been extradited from Indiana to face murder charges in Chicago.

A teen was arrested in Indiana in connection with a fatal shooting in the Austin neighborhood last October.

According to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the 17-year-old is accused of shooting and killing Gem Newson-Brown, 21, on Oct. 2 in the 1500 block of North Leamington Avenue.

Newson-Brown was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The teen was arrested in Crown Point, Indiana, on Monday and extradited to Chicago, where he was charged with first-degree murder and murder with a high likelihood of death.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
