On Saturday morning, a hit-and-run accident on the North Side of Chicago left one man dead and injured.
The accident occurred around 7:13 a.m. in the 4300 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Chicago police say the person in question, a 36-year-elderly person, was voyaging southward in a SUV with a traveler and endeavored to switch to another lane.
An unidentified driver struck his vehicle while changing lanes and then fled the scene in a white SUV traveling in the same direction.
The accident caused the victims’ car to tip over.
A 31-year-old man who was in the SUV was taken to Illinois Masonic, where he was pronounced dead. The driver received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Illinois Masonic.
The car, according to the police, was the key piece of evidence that the hit-and-run driver left behind. Additionally, it was a ZipCar rental. People are able to rent cars by the hour from the rental company. Local media have contacted ZipCar for a statement and are awaiting a response.
The Major Accidents Unit is looking into the case.
In less than 24 hours, the city has experienced its second hit-and-run fatality.
